Following his performance in Wednesday night’s Republican Presidential Debate, Vivek Ramaswamy’s campaign is concerned about how the candidate’s plant-based diet will affect his poll numbers. The Washington Post reports 38% of Republicans have an unfavorable view of Ramaswamy. A source inside his campaign commenting off the record expressed concern publicity around his vegan diet could damage his favorability. To improve his polling Ramaswamy has focused his attacks on women, Jews, and trans people. The anonymous source inside his campaign said, “Our work is to unify. Mr. Ramaswamy’s diet isn’t a force people will rally behind. In order to rally our voters, we need to focus on the great replacement theory. Our voters don’t turn out to support tofu. They turn out to support white supremacy.”
